High density zirconia ceramic beads use tetragonal zirconia (t-ZrO ₂) as the matrix and are stabilized by yttrium oxide (Y ₂ O3). This special crystal structure endows microbeads with a unique “phase transition toughening” mechanism, which can absorb a large amount of fracture energy when subjected to external impact, significantly improving crack resistance.
