High toughness composite ZTA zirconia toughened ceramic plate
Zirconia Toughened Aluminum (ZTA) is a composite ceramic material with alumina (Al ₂ O3) as the matrix and partially stabilized zirconia (ZrO ₂) as the toughening phase. This material combines the high strength, high hardness, and high wear resistance of alumina with the high toughness and impact resistance of zirconia, making it a high-performance advanced ceramic material.
Product Features
High hardness and wear resistance -ZTA ceramics have higher hardness than ordinary alumina ceramics, excellent wear resistance, and are less prone to scratches and dents on the surface. Its Rockwell hardness can reach ≥ 90 HRA. -In the wet slurry wear resistance test, ZTA ceramics exhibit higher wear resistance than ordinary alumina.
High resilience -The fracture toughness of ZTA ceramics is significantly higher than that of ordinary alumina ceramics, reaching ≥ 5.5 MPa · m ¹/², and some high-performance products can even reach ≥ 7.5 MPa · m ¹/². This high toughness makes it less prone to rupture when subjected to impact, making it suitable for applications in high stress environments.
Good thermal shock resistance -ZTA ceramics have excellent thermal shock resistance and can maintain structural stability in environments with rapid temperature changes.
High thermal conductivity and low thermal expansion coefficient -The thermal conductivity of ZTA ceramics can reach 26 W/(m · K), which is comparable to alumina. At the same time, it has a lower coefficient of thermal expansion (7.2 × 10 ⁻⁶/K at 40-400 ℃) and exhibits good dimensional stability in high-temperature environments.
Excellent chemical stability -ZTA ceramics are resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, have good chemical stability, and can maintain stable acid and alkali resistance within the pH range of 3-12.
High flexural strength -The bending strength of ZTA ceramics can reach 300-800 MPa, which is about twice that of ordinary alumina.
High insulation -ZTA ceramics have high electrical insulation and low dielectric constant, making them suitable for the field of electronics and electrical engineering.
toughening mechanism
Stress induced phase transformation toughening -Zirconia undergoes a phase transition from tetragonal to monoclinic under specific conditions, resulting in volume expansion and preventing crack propagation.
Microcrack toughening -The addition of zirconia will form microcracks in the matrix, increase the fracture surface energy of the material, and hinder the rapid propagation of the main crack.
Dispersion toughening -Zirconia particles are dispersed in the alumina matrix, forming a tortuous crack propagation path and increasing fracture toughness.
Compression surface toughening -Through grinding treatment, the zirconia particles on the surface layer are transformed into monoclinic phase, and the volume expands to form a compressed surface layer, which offsets the external tensile stress and strengthens the ceramic.
Application area
Industrial wear-resistant field -ZTA ceramic lining plates are widely used as wear-resistant lining for heavy wear equipment such as mines, docks, ports, etc., such as conveyors, ball mills, grinding discs, etc.
Electronic and electrical field -As a semiconductor device packaging carrier, ZTA ceramic substrate has good heat dissipation, insulation, and thermal shock resistance, and is suitable for electric vehicle IGBT modules, LED packaging, etc.
Medical field -ZTA ceramics have excellent biocompatibility and are used in dental implants, orthodontic brackets, artificial joints, etc.
Cutting tool field -ZTA ceramic cutting tools combine the bending resistance of zirconia with the rigidity of alumina, making them suitable for high-speed cutting.
Other fields -ZTA ceramics can also be used to manufacture high-performance ceramic balls, ceramic lining tiles, etc., and are widely used in industries such as chemical engineering and metallurgy.
Product advantages
High cost-effectiveness -Compared to pure zirconia ceramics, ZTA ceramics have lower costs and higher cost-effectiveness while maintaining high performance.
Customized services -ZTA ceramic plates can be customized into products of different sizes, shapes, and properties according to customer needs.
Easy installation -ZTA ceramic liner can be compounded with rubber or steel plate through vulcanization process to increase the firmness of the liner and equipment.
